The Maison du Père does not only see the well-being and residential stability of men who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. It facilitates access to employment for men seeking help through links with public, private and community partners.

Maison du Père provides support to social reintegration participants who are searching for work. We offer assistance with updating resumes and cover letters as well as preparing for interviews. We also provide advice on job search techniques, references and more.

Maison du Père partners with Emploi-Québec to offer the PAAS Action program to men participating in social reintegration. Through this program, participants can receive a supplemental government support benefit while getting back into the workforce and making progress on the interpersonal level. They can choose from among several work experience options: kitchen, laundry, clothing depot, building maintenance and receipt of goods.

Maison du Père works closely with several organizations including Travail sans Frontières and Société de Développement Social to provide work experience to men who want it. This translates into temporarily work contracts (two to four months). It has also developed connections with the private and public sector, including a partnership with Quartier des spectacles.

With support and expertise from SARCA advisors, participants in Maison du Père’s social reintegration program can design a training program and action plan to go back to school. During their program, they will get the support and information they need to reach their goal, including assessment and recognition of prior learning, exams, professional orientation and individual counselling. These services are offered jointly by Réseau de la formation générale des adultes and Réseau de la formation professionnelle.

Maison du Père is one of the host organizations chosen by the YMCA for its Compensatory Work program. Through this program, citizens who are unable to pay their fines have the opportunity to work at the organization to pay off their debts and avoid prison. Some of the tasks they may do include helping at reception, sorting clothing, assisting in the kitchen, washing dishes, etc.

Thanks to a partnership with Clinique Droits Devant, Maison du Père is able to offer legal assistance services to people participating in our social reintegration program. These services help them understand their legal situation and support them in taking steps to resolve that situation with compensatory work or payment plan agreements.
