VOLUNTEERING

Maison du Père is supported by a team of more than 200 volunteers of all ages from diverse backgrounds. These generous people make an essential contribution to our financial wellness and the well-being of people they work with.

Thanks to these volunteers, men from the street can use various services offered by the Maison and connect with people who will listen to them, something they really need.

For logistical purposes at Maison du Père, we ask individual volunteers to commit to three hours per week on a pre-set schedule.

«  Being a volunteer at Maison du Père is much more than a simple opportunity to get involved in a shelter for homeless men. It’s more of an opportunity to be part of a welcoming, open-minded community where people help each other. Volunteers make a difference in the lives of users who come to the Maison while being part of an outstanding team.

It has been more than five years since I joined Maison du Père and I encourage anyone who can to give some of their time or resources to this marvellous organization.

Because every street should have an exit…

Émilie,

Volunteer for 5+ years

«  I have been volunteering at Maison du Père since October 2005. I’m at the shelter on Monday starting at 3 p.m., then I go to the food service area until 7 p.m. And sometimes I even play a few games of cribbage after the second supper. I ran the photo club and the theatre workshop. I joined the palliative care team last year.

Over the course of all these years, I’ve gotten to know talented, kind and generous volunteers and employees and, most importantly, I’ve met sweet, down-to-earth men (users) who are very humble. I’m very proud to be part of this beautiful family.

CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING

According to the logistical needs of the Maison du Père, you will be asked to perform tasks such as decoration of rooms for thematic events, preparation of postal items, maintenance work inside and outside, etc. To participate in this activity, your company must send a minimum donation of $ 1500 to Maison du Père (before or during the event). There is the possibility of replacing the monetary gift with another type of equivalent gift. For more information and group bookings for a day in the community, please contact the Coordinator of volunteers and community activities.

We accept groups between 10 and 25 people. If you are interested in getting involved, be aware that, in view of our regular team of volunteers who are involved daily in various tasks at the Maison du Père, it is essential to book at least one month in advance. We also offer a visit of our organization to discover the various services offered.
