Resident of J.A. DeSève
Raymond, 65 years old
He didn't chose to be homeless...
I found myself on the streets at 65 years old, not long after I retired.
I hadn’t touched alcohol in 17 years. One Christmas night, I let myself be tempted: “Oh, it’s not a big deal if I have just one drink.”
But that’s not how it works.
Three months later, I was on the streets. I have now been at Maison du Père for a year and a half. At the Residence, I feel safe. We’re not allowed to drink alcohol here. It helps me out. The people you surround yourself with are important. If you want to talk, there’s always someone to listen. Retirement isn’t as easy as people think… You have to relearn how to occupy your time, how to socialize.
I’m getting there, thanks to the activities…
